2008 MS Bike Tour in Vancouver

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

Sunday morning I was in Vancouver to take part in the RONA MS Bike Tour. The weather was just right for riding around the city. The bike ride began at Science World and went along the beach out to Spanish Banks and then through UBC. After UBC the route divided into two directions. I took the one that continued on to Burnaby. It eventually turned around at Central Park. Eventually we all returned to Science World where there was a BBQ for the participants.

Only a few hours to go

Saturday, August 9th, 2008

Its only a day away, the MS Bike Tour in Vancouver. According to my countdown timer its only about 15 hours away. I’m looking forward to this ride and have been doing quite a bit of cycling in preparation. I took my bike to have a tune up and I’ve been riding in Chilliwack on a regular basis. Thursday morning I had an enjoyable ride along Cultus Lake and around Columbia Valley. For the upcoming ride I’m looking forward to the chance to cycle around some familiar areas in Vancouver as it goes through UBC where I once studied. The weather forecast right now doesn’t show rain at this time so that is looking good. Well, I’ll let you know how it goes when I’m back.

Biking for MS Society again this summer

Friday, June 20th, 2008

Summer has come again and the weather has changed from a cold spring to warm sunny days. That means I’m back again out on my bike. I particularly enjoy cycling around Fairfield Island.

As in previous years I will be riding in the MS Bike Tour. This summer I have signed up to take part in the ride around Vancouver on Aug. 10. To support the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada you can sponsor me for the ride. Select the link on the right hand side of my blog.

Cycling around Chilliwack

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Today I went for a bike ride. First I went up Marble Hill Rd. east of Chilliwack and took a few pictures from there.

I came back via Rosedale and then Fairfield Island. The weather today was great with sunshine, but some clouds to keep things from getting too hot.

If you want to bike around Chilliwack, be sure to get out on the roads that head out of town and through the farms. You can take as much or as little time as you want. For an easy ride just go along the farms, but if you want a workout keep heading south until you hit the hills south of Chilliwack and go up those.

Bike Tour this past weekend

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Hello. I just want to let you know that I took part this past weekend in the RONA MS Bike Tour. We began on Saturday at Tradex and rode to Trinity Western University (TWU). On Sunday we returned from TWU to Tradex. The weather turned out fine on Sunday and made for an enjoyable ride: on Saturday we had quite a bit of rain. The route on Saturday was 70km, though, for quite a few of us it was a bit shorter as we missed a turn, fortunately the route eventually came back to where we were riding. We took a different route back on Sunday, it was 60km and at one point went along the Fraser River. Overall it was a good experience riding with the other cyclists in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

Biking again

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

I wasn’t feeling well for about a week so that didn’t make it so nice for biking, but I was able to go for a nice ride up and around Ryder Lake Rd. on Friday. Once the rain goes away and the sun comes out as predicted getting out on the bike should make for a good way to spend the holiday.

Signed up for Fraser Valley Grape Escape

Monday, April 30th, 2007

I am signed up again to ride in the RONA MS Bike Tour. This year I will be participating in the Fraser Valley Grape Escape, a two day bike ride in June between Abbotsford and Langley. Visit my fundraising page if you would like to join me in support of the MS Society of Canada.

Today’s bikeride

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I went biking this afternoon on Fairfield Island. The weather was overcast, but quite nice for riding. After having a tune-up earlier this week it is glides along nicely. No land speed records, but it sure was fun and good to be outside.

Time to get out the bike

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

Spring is here and the days are getting warmer and longer. I’ve gotten my bike and tried it out. I’m excited to be able to ride again. Last year I didn’t get much of an opportunity to ride a bike. Looking forward to being able to bike again in the Fraser Valley and anywhere else the wheels take me.

If You At First You Don’t Succeed…

Saturday, September 10th, 2005

I wasn’t able to ride my bike in the MS Bike Tour in Vancouver due to bike problems. However, I felt I should still try and do a similar ride. As a result this morning I went for a bike ride in the Abbotsford area. I had the route map for last year’s bike ride that I was able to use. The warm sunny weather that we had today made it very pleasant for cycling. The route I biked was a 70km route south of the freeway beside many of the farms in the Abbotsford area.
